★AESOP's Fable

A wolf met a lamb at a brook. and he wanted to eat her.
But though he did meet her{But meeting her as he did},
he thought he must find some excuse for doing so.

Therefore said the wolf, "How dare you come to my brook, and muddy the water?"
The lamb said, "But I can't do that, for you stand higher up the stream."

The wolf said,
"Though it may be that {Be that as it may}, you are a rascal all the same,
for last year you said  bad things of me behind my back."

The lamb said,
" O that couldn't be, either.
                                  I could have done  that had I been born a year ago!"
The wolf said,
"If it was not you, it was your father;
so it's  all the same!"
And the wolf ate the lamb up.
