Humans' Benevolent Behavior toward Nature

Humans' Benevolent Behavior toward Nature

While the hustle and bustle city life continues, I have been thankfully enjoying morning exercise by walking on a hill path as it is situated close to my apartment.

It was a pretty chilly morning ( March 2, 2024) for early Spring weather. As usual, I was walking along the narrow path in the hill where a lot of oak, acacia, maple, cherry and pine trees are forming a beautiful scenery all the year round. The number of pines is relatively less than other kinds of trees in this small mountain.

Surprisingly, I discovered that a few little plastic bottles were hangging at the vase of  the pines, regardless of big and small, standing sparsely in the hill. In no time, I could realize that the white plastic bottles must be the insecticide injection treatment set to prevent pine wilt infection.

As a matter of fact, the pine trees, especially Korean red pines have long presented us incomparable gorgeous scenery throughout the country. And yet, they are particularly vulnerable to the pine wilt disease. Therefore, once infected, the wilt disease will rapidly devastate major forest resources. For this reason, every local government has given top priority in preventing pine wilt disease every year.

There has been a saying " Nature is not dependent on human beings to exist. Human beings, on the other hand, are totally dependent on nature to exist."

This is absolutely true, however, such preventive measures being carried by human beings toward Nature deserves to be called a great collaboration between Nature and Human being for mutual existence.

Hoping the pine trees that have received  preventive treatment against the wilt disease will grow safe and sound, I express deep thanks to the Seoul municipal government for the timely forest preventive measure works.
